Nivedita Sharma – Senior Partner

Ms. Nivedita Sharma, a Senior Partner with 27 years of experience in litigation, arbitration, and corporate law, is a distinguished legal professional specialising in environmental law, media & entertainment, urban redevelopment, telecom, infrastructure, and energy sectors. She is a member of the Bar Council of India, the Delhi High Court Bar Association, and the Supreme Court Bar Association. With a strong academic foundation, she holds a B.Sc.
(1978), LL.B. (1993), a Diploma in International Business Law (1999), and an LL.M. (2001).
Throughout her career, Ms. Nivedita has appeared before the Supreme Court and various
High Courts, handling a wide range of cases in constitutional, civil, and criminal law. She
served as Standing Counsel for the Union of India in the Supreme Court for five years,
representing the government in complex legal matters. A strong advocate for social,
environmental, and human rights issues, she leads the firm’s pro bono practice, working
tirelessly for public interest causes.
Her legal acumen has led to several landmark reforms. She was instrumental in securing a
ban on unsolicited telemarketing calls, addressing a national nuisance through regulatory
intervention. She also played a pivotal role in groundwater conservation, securing a ban on
commercial borewell digging in Haryana through the Punjab and Haryana High Court
(2012)—a decision that later influenced courts in Punjab, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and other
states. She further contributed to mapping and restoring over 6,000 water bodies in Haryana,
leading to a National Green Tribunal (NGT) directive for water body restoration across India,
marking a significant step in reversing environmental damage. In a groundbreaking case, she
became the first lawyer in India to secure a Supreme Court order to shut down a mobile
phone tower on health grounds, advocating for a cancer patient suffering from non-Hodgkin’s
lymphoma. She continues her fight for policy reforms in mobile telephony to ensure public
health safety.
Beyond litigation, Ms. Nivedita has advised multinational corporations (MNCs) on foreign
direct investment (FDI), regulatory approvals, due diligence, and joint ventures. She has
worked on urban redevelopment, oil & gas, power, and international arbitration cases,
including assisting a French multinational in drafting and negotiating contracts for an
underground gas pipeline project. She has also collaborated with the Singapore Government
(Ministry of National Development – MND), facilitating partnerships between Singaporean
and Indian state governments for urban redevelopment projects.
Ms. Nivedita’s expertise extends to contract law and government policy, where she
specializes in drafting and reviewing infrastructure development and technology transfer
agreements, media and entertainment contracts, Special Leave Petitions (SLPs), Writ
Petitions, Arbitration Petitions, and other court filings. With an unwavering commitment to
